Mason's First Haircut!

I got tired of going to the stores and having people ask "How old is SHE?" and I would have to always reply "well HE is xx month old". He doesn't look like a girl in his football outfit or all dressed in blues and green. Such girl colors. Anyway, we had Grandma Connie cut his hair. I was a little nervous at first but we put on his Mickey Mouse Clubhouse video and he sat still and let her cut his hair.

Here we go...

Snip, Snip, Snip

Look at all that hair.

The final product....drum roll please.....a handsome little boy!

It's Official

Scott passed the Bar and was Sworn in on October 30, 2007. Sorry a little late with this blog. Here is my horrible picture of me pregnant, but good thing you can't tell. As of right now he started up his own firm and is taking referral cases, so if you know anyone that needs an attorney, by all means send them our way. He still is interviewing at different firms trying to get more money of course but for right now.....its all solo!

Mason's First Trick or Treating!

At first I thought Mason would be to young to understand...but he did quite well. We only went to the houses of friends and family and a ward trunk or treat. The people would give him a bowl of candy and say ok here have some and Mason with his little two pinching fingers would only take one piece of candy. And most of the time it was a yellow wrapper or a lollipop. At the trunk or treat a dentist was passing out toothbrushes. He loved that one. I loved his costume...OLD NAVY for $16.00 and some change. I got it in September so all the infant clothes and costumes were 25% off. Such a steal! If you can't tell he is a dragon. Well I guess I am going to have to get creative next year, for when I have two kids. There was a family at my work and she had a little girl dressed up a tinkerbell and the older boy was Peter Pan, the dad Captain Hook and the mom was Wendy. It was too cute!!

Fun at Wheeler Farm.

Mason and his friend Hayden went to Wheeler Farm's Scarecrow Festival. There they got to pick a pumpkin out of the pumpkin patch and paint the pumpkin. Then they got to ride a wagon pulled by a tractor through the farming land. They saw cows, pigs, sheep, horses, duck pond, river, and a lot of cool scenery. The ride at times was bumpy but went pretty fast. The mommies (Merilee and I) had to hold onto to our kids pretty tight (while trying not to fall off ourselves). They also had adult crafts and you could have built your own scarecrow. But we decided just to do the kiddie activities. It was a blast and the kids had a great time doing it! You know when the activity was successful is when you get home and your kids take a nap with no fussing!

Mason's first time bowling.

We went to visit Amber, Scott's little sister, in Pocatello, Idaho. If anyone of you have ever been there it is a very small place, but Idaho State is there and that is what brings Amber there. She plays softball for the team. What can you do in a little town....well eat, watch tv and go bowling. They did not have kid size bowling balls so we improvised with our balls (by rolling it with him). Mason did better than we did and he didn't have any bumpers! Good job, Mason!

Mason can always make us smile!

Mason decided to sit in this little bin to see if his whole body would fit in there i guess. He loves playing with random items in the house. I guess they all go through that stage. No matter what toys you buy them they want the free ones they see the grown ups using. No matter, they make great pictures!

A day at the Utah State Fair!

We took Mason to the Utah State Fair in September. They had a lot of rides, slides, and games. We let Mason ride on the pony ride. He had a great time. I was scared for him so I made Scott walk beside him because I was to affraid of the little horse. Because I am pregnant I made Scott take Mason down the big yellow slide. He had so much fun. At the fair they have a little farm where the little farmers can do some farming chores. You started out by putting on your apron and getting a bucket of feed for the animals (corn). Then you went and picked an apple off of the fake tree. Then went and got a seed and planted it in a huge sand box and went to the other side to harvest your plant. All the while you are keeping all the things you are collecting in this little bucket. You bailed some hay and rode it around in your tractor (tricycle with a wagon on it). You pick an egg from under a fake chicken in the chicken coop, shear a sheep for some wool and feed the sheep and milk a cow (water squirted out of the utters of a fake cow). You took all the things you collected saying that you did all the stations and turned it in for a healthy treat. It was my favorite part of the fair. (and the only one that did not cost an arm and a leg). It was way too cute and fun! I wish i would have gotten pictures but my camera had died about then. It always happens when you want to take a picture of something good!

Why Husbands don't bathe kids!

I asked Scott if he could give Mason a bath, because normally I do the bed time routine. Well you can see below they had a GREAT time!

Mason's first bike ride.

Mason had a great time with this. We borrowed Scott's sister's bike and seat and bought Mason a cool toddler helmet and off they went. I followed on a bike to see how he did and he just sat there and enjoyed the ride. I tried riding him around and I was a little wobbly at first but once you get going it is a smooth ride. Have to hurry and get more rides in before it gets too cold!!

Wouldn't it be crazy if it were Feb. 14 or Feb. 29. The girl names we like are : McKenna (this is our favorite), Brooklyn, Kyla, and there was another one but for some reason my brain just can't think of it. You know how that goes! Well the next time I post I promise it will have some kind of pictures!

Update!! Per everyone's request.

Just a little update on what's going on. Scott took the bar in July and is currently waiting for his test results. They don't tell you until October. Bummer!
We are playing the waiting game until then.

Scott is playing Mr. MOM while I am working. He calls it vacation from his 3 years of studying. We are currently living at his family's house. Saving up money for a house and all the other finer things and necessities in life.

Mason now has 3 teeth and he is 14 months. I know only 3!! But they are still sharp, watch out because he knows what they are used for....to bite your pointy fingers. I have never met a child who loved to brush his teeth more than Mason. He loves it. Every morning I can say " Mason lets brush your teeth" and he will run into the bathroom and wait patiently for me to put toothpaste (baby orajell brand) on his toothbrush and brush his gums and 3 teeth. When i am done he cries because he wants to keep doing it. I have bought him his own play toothbrush and he takes that everywhere. Somtimes i wonder what he will want to be when he grows up, watching his likes and dislikes of things. I guess a dentist wouldn't be that bad.

We miss all of our friends close and far and hope we can meet up with them again.

Until then watch for the next blog!! it may take me a while...it always does.

Camping under the stars!

Mason had a great time camping out under the stars for his first time( real camping...in a tent!). Earlier that day Scott had to pack all of our gear and clothes and pick me up at work to head out to go camping with the Marsing Family for Father's Day weekend. Scott had only brought Mason two outfits, and I was in high heel shoes. Needless to say it was an experience. It was my first time as well in a tent with no bathrooms nearby and no showering. It got really cold at night but Mason kept me really warm. He was so cute sleeping in his own sleeping bag and eating smores. He loved playing with the other kids that were there, but also playing in the dirt. Scott's friend had a four wheeler and Scott took Mason on that for his first time and he loved it. He kept saying "oooooo". It was a great Father's Day weekend.

A boating we will go...

So we decided it was about time that Mason had his first boat ride. I mean after all his dad is an avid fisherman. Both men must have a boat to fish. I was a little nervous about the boat ride. How would Mason react? Would there be a small enough life jacket for him? You know the routine....worried mommy syndrome. Well, he did great and loved watching the water hit the boat. When the boat got real jumpy, he stuck it out like a real trooper!!

Mason all smiles in his lifejacket. (this is before we got into the water!)

Mason hanging out with Daddy in the front of the boat.

Mason's First Birthday!!

Today June 13, 2007 Mason just turned ONE!! We threw him a Finding Nemo Baby Pool Party. We invited all of his close friends and family.

When it came time to eat cake, I was so excited thinking he was just going to jump right in, but he has again proven me wrong. He was very modest and dipped just the tip of his fingers into the cake and sucked on his fingers. The only time he got the cake on his face was when he went to wipe his eyes because he was so tired. And then he was mad that he had stuff on his face.

Finally, presents time! Guess what! He was a little interested. He wasn't interested in the wrapping paper or the bags, but when the toy came out there were little " OOooos" of excitement!

All in all it was a great first birthday bash! Nothing big and nothing small, just right!

New to Blogger!

Well I see that everyone has one of these blogger pages, so I guess i am going to try. It seems fun and a great way to share whats been going on with our family to everyone without having to send a million of pictures by email everytime. So what i have posted in May below have really not happened in May, I just did not want an empty page. More sackett Family Adventures to come!!

Jungle gym party.

One of our friends in our ward had a birthday party for thier daughter at a jungle gym. We were hesistant at first, thinking what could Mason do at a jungle gym, that maybe they had something for little ones to play with. But to our amazement again, Mason plowed through the gym just fine. Scott went with him and was getting tired, and Mason kept going all by himself. He loved it! He also loved the fact that his friends were doing it too. He was now a big boy doing things with the big kids! That made him real happy. He wants to be big so bad. I am just not ready for him to grow up so fast.

A day in the park

Mason loved the day at the park. We went to Lafrenier Park one weekend I did not have to work and flew kites. Of course we lost all the kites in the trees. One kite got away and snagged on a tree, and the tree was flying it because the kite was so high in the air.
Mason was also learning to stand up on his own with out holding on to something. He would only stand if you gave him something to hold on to. As you see in this case it is a Mountain Dew bottle.

At the park they had a playground with swings and slides and a lake. Mason loved the swings and we were to scarred to let him go down the slide by himself so we went with him. He really didn't care for the slide as much as he loved the swings.

Scott of course went and tried to fish in the lake. Always has his Handy Dandy Fishing Pole in the trunk of his car for emergencies. But without bait, of course he did not catch anything. All in all it was a productive outing at the park. A lot of Mason's first happened that day!
